The Hadarion
ההדריון
The Hadarion, with the encouragement and financial support of the City of Haifa, currently offers a venue for a wide variety of community activities in addition to its more traditional role of providing space for some required Technion architecture and town planning studio course work and lectures. Completing the renovation will not only double the amount of academic activities that can take place there, but also provide much-needed space for community projects, exhibitions, experiments and activities with long-term impact. Members of the community given the opportunity to voice their concerns and priorities become active participants in improving the local quality of life. Youngsters who participate in activities at the Hadarion are exposed to hitherto unknown aspects of history, architecture, urban planning and the arts that demonstrate that the doors to higher education are open to them and may inspire them to become the next generation of Technion students and builders of Israel.
כשלוחה של הטכניון והפקולטה לארכיטקטורה ובנוי ערים, ההדריון מהווה בית לפעילות אקדמית של חוקרים, מורים וסטודנטים לארכיטקטורה, אדריכלות נוף, תכנון ערים ואזורים ועיצוב תעשייתי.
פעילויות ההדריון הן בעלות זיקה להדר הכרמל, לעיר ולמטרופולין חיפה ולאזור הצפוני של הארץ, תוך שאיפה לשיתוף פעולה מעמיק עם גופים חיפאיים ממסדיים וקהילתיים, והעדפת סוגיות בעלות רלוונטיות למרחב החברתי, התרבותי, הכלכלי והסביבתי של חיפה והצפון.
ההדריון מקדם פרוייקטים בעלי מימד נסיוני-מחקרי, כגון תכנון כמחקר, מדע אזרחי ועוד, ומופעלים בו קורסי סטודיו, קורסים עיוניים ומרחבי עבודה של משתלמים. בנוסף, מעודד ההדריון שיתופי פעולה בין מסלולים פקולטיים, בין פקולטות בטכניון, ועם גופים אקדמיים אחרים בארץ ובעולם, והוא מקום למסגרות פעילות לא שגרתיות, ובהן סדנאות מקומיות ובינלאומיות, סדנאות קיץ, מחקרי פעולה וכד׳.
המבנה המיוחד של ההדריון בעל הצורה המתומנת, הוקם על חורבות מגדל המים ההיסטורי ששימש את מתחם הטכניון . הבניין נבנה כספריה וחדר זיכרון לנופלים מקרב תלמידי ומורי בית הספר בסמ"ת. (תוכנן על ידי האדריכל שלמה גלעד ז"ל). ההדריון נפתח לפעילות כחלק מהפקולטה במאי 2016 ומאז פועל לממש את חזונו לבסס הוראה ומחקר מוטי-עיר ורגישים לסביבתם האורבנית ולתרום לקהילות המקומיות.
